Garrison Forest School
New Middle School
Owings Mills, MD

A new 28,000-SF middle school building for this independent girls’ school is LEED certified Silver and the first LEED certified K-12 school in Baltimore.
Sustainable features include an energy-efficient HVAC system in compliance with ASHRAE 55 for thermal comfort, airside economizer operation to reduce compressor operation, zoned night set-back temperature control, low-flow toilets and faucets, and waterless urinals. JPA also designed direct-indirect suspended light fixtures with T-8 lamps for the classrooms, electronic ballasts, zoned light switching, and motion sensor controls.
