James Posey Associates is a MEP engineering firm held in high regard by architects and building owners for the superior mechanical and electrical design services we provide.
About Us
JPA consistently ranks in the Engineering-News Record “Top 500”, Consulting Specifying Engineer “Giants 100”, and Building Design + Construction “Giants 300”, and we are the top MEP firm on the Baltimore Business Journal list of the 25 largest engineering firms. We were the first firm honored by AIA Baltimore with the award for “Outstanding Consultant of the Year”, and we are the only firm to receive the award twice.
Our current staff of 60 has been with us an average of 12 years, and we take pride in this high rate of retention. It is essential to the trust, reliability, and consistent level of service we bring to clients. We also have an impressive record of continuity in the firm’s leadership with only four presidents and four generations of principals in 100 years of practice.
The staff includes 13 registered Professional Engineers and 17 LEED Accredited Professionals. We also have engineers who are certified in plumbing design, geothermal exchange design, high performance building design, energy management, lighting design, and healthcare facility design.
Ten of our projects are LEED Gold or Silver certified, and more than two dozen currently underway are LEED registered. We have utilized Building Information Modeling (BIM) on eight projects to date.
Among our awards for design excellence are those from the American Council of Engineering Companies, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, and Association of Energy Engineers.
