Visitor amenities include two 250-seat orientation theaters, a 20,000-SF museum-quality exhibition hall for artifacts and documents from the National Archives and Library of Congress, a great hall for ticketing and information services, and a 530-seat cafeteria with food court, two gift shops, and 36 restrooms.
Architect of the Capitol
Washington, DC
JPA has worked for the Architect of the Capitol on a continuous basis since 1996, leading large multi-disciplinary design teams under a series of contracts for a wide variety of professional services. We have worked in almost every building on Capitol Hill, including the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, U.S. Supreme Court, and all of the House and Senate Office Buildings.

Casper R. Taylor, Jr. House Office Building
Annapolis, MD
A new 92,200-SF building named for the former Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates was added to the Thomas Hunter Lowe Office Building in the Historic State Office Campus. The three-story addition provides a new main public entrance and features hearing rooms and office suites for standing committees, as well as new offices for all 141 delegates and a top floor suite for the House speaker.
Smithsonian Institution
Washington, DC
JPA has served the Smithsonian Institution under a series of professional service agreements since 1987. In addition to every Smithsonian museum on the National Mall, we have worked at the National Zoological Park, Cooper-Hewitt Museum, National Museum of American Indian Cultural Resource Center, Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, Museum Support Center, and Garber Preservation and Conservation Facility.
Maryland Department of General Services
William S. James Senate Office Building
Annapolis, MD
The interior of this 76,500-SF Georgian-style building within the Historic State Office Complex was completely renovated. The building now provides office suites for 38 of Maryland’s senators. Large offices on either side of the entrance lobby are of historical significance because they were the original offices of the state treasurer and state comptroller when the building was first constructed in 1938.
